I LOVE. This soup – it tastes like my childhood 😍😍 my amazing Aunty Marian used to make it for us and it’s so comforting xx
I’m not the best with measurements etc but it all depends on your size of gammon anyway. What you will need is-
🎈piece of gammon
🎈red split lentils
🎈cover the gammon joint in boiling water and bring to the boil again. Simmer for a couple of hours till cooked through and falling apart. Keep topping up the water if you have to.
🎈remove the gammon from the water and add instead, the lentils (washed). Boil in the same water that the gammon was cooked in then simmer until cooked.
🎈add the potatoes, carrots and leeks and shred the gammon and return to the pan. Bring to the boil then simmer until potatoes are cooked through. Add some cracked black pepper if desired but you defo won’t need any salt. You can use fresh water after the boiling of the meat of you wish but it won’t have the same Delish flavour.
